2008 Ford/AAA Contest
Thank you for visiting the official 2008 page for the Ford/AAA contest. This page is to show you all that we did during the contest. We left at 7am and headed to Galveston. This year the hotel is in Galveston (nice one at that), but we have to compete in San Jancinto college in Pasadena, TX which is south of Houston.
On the day of the contest, we prepared our stall by setting out tools. We connected the IDS (Ford scan tool) to the laptop and got ready to compete. They were first to get the vehicle running. They were also first to drive off the line in about 38 mins. However they returned because of a bug; the door ajar light was on. They spent the rest of the contest trying to fix it. With 18 mins left, they took the 3 demerit hit and went to final judging. Thinking they did no do well, they returned. They waited for the end of the contest in their stall.
After the end of the contest, we were allowed to go to their stall. We found out that the rear hatch latch was the bug. They had to fix it. We found out later that no one repaired that bug either. Knowing that our written scores would play a role in the final placing, we were unsure on how we did. At the awards ceremony, the judges announced the order of the winners from 9th to 1st place. Place after place we did not hear our name until.......
We won first place in the competition this year. We have done it! Please see the video on youtube which will be up as soon as I can edit it. We will be leaving to go to nationals in Michigan in June. I will update this page as soon as I can.
